Chipping

After breakfast and a quick scoot around the shops looking for some assorted apartment bits, we spent the best part of today chipping out the glass tiles from the kitchen walls.

Hard work. Despite being nigh on 70 years old, they’re stuck on tight. And they’re glass. Nonetheless, I ended up with a pretty handy method of removing them that consisted of a large hammer, a phillips head screwdriver and a lot of effort.

The angle of attack was critical. Get it right and the tile would shoot off in one piece. Get it wrong and the damn thing would shatter into a thousand pieces, sending tiny glass shards and dust everywhere. In the shower this evening I found myself plucking remaindered shards from my hair…

Anyway, we’re about 75% there with the tiles. Right now, I feel like a stiff drink.
