There’s nothing quite like a long weekend. Decidedly shady weather on Saturday gave way to a weekend of glorious sunshine and very unwinter-like temperatures.
We spent Saturday in town, inside and out of the rain, checking out the sales and paying a visit to the recently opened City of Sydney Library at Customs House, Circular Quay.
It was impressive to say the least, with a stack of free internet terminals; some great design features - including a massive model of the Sydney CBD located underneath a glass floor in the foyer; a large array of world newspapers available for reading; and lots of reading rooms upstairs.
It’s open until 7pm every night too, should be good when I have some time to burn before jumping on the ferry home.
Sunday morning we said farewell to Nellie’s cousin Mark, who departed for new adventures in Japan, he’s off to teach Engrish in the shadow of Fuji. All the best, Mark.
Afterwards we picked up a new dining table for our apartment, an unfinished pine number that we’ll paint next weekend.
Things are coming to a head now with the last room, the sunroom/dining almost there after painting our bookcase and touching up the walls today.
It’s amazing to look back on this place just over one year ago and to see how much it’s changed since. This afternoon we looked at our renovation ‘before’ photos and had a bit of a chuckle.
