Mumbai
Four days taking in the sights of India’s most populous city.
Goa
We spent the recent Diwali long-weekend soaking up the sea air and sunshine in Goa.
Fort Cochin
A six day trip to the south-western state of Kerala for my 40th birthday last month.
We stayed in Fort Cochin/Kochi and spent our days exploring the historical Portuguese and Dutch buildings, Chinese fishing nets, churches, and spice markets on foot and auto.
Trip to Delhi & Agra
Spent a few days in June exploring Delhi before taking the train down to Agra for a few more days.
Had lots of fun focusing more on shooting video than photos on this trip. Am really starting to enjoy the process of creating these short videos so I think I’ll stick with it for a little while.

Winter
Loving the colder weather. After 18 months in Malaysia and the 3 months of summer before that, it sure is nice to throw the uggs on and sit in front of a fire.

Bun cha

Best food in Vietnam: Bun Cha sitting on one of those tiny plastic stools on a footpath somewhere
CH

Went to the Cameron Highlands a few weekends back.
Tea and Land Rovers as far as the eye can see.
Hanoi

Hotel Metropole, a couple of Traction Avants parked out the front.

Across Hoan Kiem Lake to Thap Rua.

The drive back from Ha Long Bay. Only 170kms from Hanoi, the journey took nearly 3½ hrs each way.

Street-side Bun Cha, so good we went back a few days in a row,

Streets of Hanoi.
On the way to Penang

Gave the Polo a good run the other weekend by driving up to Penang. Stopped at Ipoh on the way for this local speciality “Sar hor fun”. So good we went back for more on the way home.
Malacca
We recently spent a long weekend exploring Malacca.
Highlights: best-cendol-ever (Gula Melaka!), walking Chinatown, A’Famosa and the quite incredible history of this place.
Ni hao Taipei
An extended weekend spent in and around Taipei.
Taiwan has a great mix of Chinese and Japanese culture that shows little evidence of being stuck in a diplomatic no mans land.

Penang

Last weekend we took a short flight to the island of Penang to explore the UNESCO World Heritage City of George Town. We really liked this place.
Highlights: Assam laksa, ABC, cendol; the E&O; Chew Jetty; the historic buildings of George Town.
Chiang Mai

We took advantage of the Easter break to head up to Chiang Mai, Thailand for a few days.

My first time in Thailand, loved every minute of it. Spent our time getting around town on tuk-tuks, visiting several of the hundreds of temples and exploring the markets after dark.

A week in NZ
Some photos from our recent trip to NZ during which we drove a loop from Christchurch, Wanaka, Queenstown, Dunedin and back to Christchurch.
